Popular Dubai Rugby Sevens cheerleaders return to the city
Aggreko Dynamos to light up the tournament
Dubai, November 24, 2008 - With just a matter of days to the Emirates Airline Dubai Rugby Sevens, some of the major attractions of the event, the Aggreko Dynamos have landed in the city ready to entertain the crowds at the tournament's new venue 'The Sevens'.
The talented cheerleading squad touched down from Australia yesterday and are looking forward to performing in front of an even bigger crowd than usual from November 27-29.
"The Dubai Sevens is such a special event not only because everyone loves rugby, but every year this event has such a great vibe and it attracts people from all over the globe," said Amber Field, the Dynamos' coordinator and choreographer.
"Everyone has such a good time and the energy is amazing. We love coming here every year and being a part of it," said Field, who is no stranger to Dubai, having lived in the city for two years.
Explaining what it takes to be a part of her team of dedicated performers who wow the crowds with their athleticism and enthusiasm, Field said: "Being a good cheerleader comes from the love of what you are doing. You have to have personality, passion and love being out there on the field entertaining. If you have all these things it shines through and the crowd responds to that."
Field and her team spent Monday morning training at the new home of the Emirates Airline Dubai Rugby Sevens. "This is such a spectacular new venue and I am sure this year's tournament will be even better than ever," reckoned Field, whose team is sponsored by Aggreko - the suppliers of power to the site.
"The final finishing touches are now being done to this marvelous venue and the countdown is on for what promises to be a truly memorable tournament, marking a new era for rugby in this region," said Gary Chapman, President Group Services and Dnata, Emirates Group.
"We are so looking forward to welcoming the thousands of fans to The Sevens to experience something truly special," added Chapman, who pointed out that organisers have gone to great lengths to ensure an enjoyable weekend for all. This includes the provision of a dedicated bus service to transport fans from the venue back into various locations across Dubai.
From 5pm each day, over 170 free buses will be running on a continuous loop from The Sevens to five convenient drop-off points. These are: Festival City, Media City (family drop off point), Barasti, Al Murooj Rotana's Double Decker or The Irish Village.
