The Emirates Dubai 7s just got even bigger!

The biggest Sports and Entertainment Festival in the Middle East is continuing its recent sporting expansion with the announcement of Fitness at the Emirates Dubai 7s from this December.

WODON3, Fitness at the Emirates Dubai 7s, will join rugby 7s, 10s, Netball and Cricket as participation sports at The Sevens Stadium on December 1st-3rd as part of the festival.

Participation in Fitness is the fastest-growing sport in the world. Made famous by the success over the last decade of the Crossfit Games, the sport has exploded around the globe allowing participants to test their Fitness in teams, against others and, of course, against themselves.

In keeping with the other sports at the Emirates Dubai 7s, WODON3 will feature divisions for all levels. Whether participants are newbies, open level or elite athletes, the only requirement is two men and two women for each team.

WODONON3 is powered by Marchon, one of the world’s leading brands in functional Fitness. Led by former England 7s man Ollie Marchon. OM will return to The Sevens Stadium and a festival that he knows so well from his previous sporting life.

The fitness competition will take place on Pitch 3, in the heart of the festival, with a world-class set-up provided by international fitness supplier BLK BOX.

Emirates Dubai 7s GM & Festival Director Tom Burwell said of the addition, “We have made some huge changes over the past 24 months, which has seen the launch of world-class entertainment across three experiential stages and the addition of Cricket, but this is the one I am most excited about.”

“Fitness is booming around the world but especially in Dubai. The idea that now gyms, gym-goers and even the home gymer can come and compete at The Emirates Dubai 7s and join the fun encapsulates everything this festival represents. We want to give as many people as possible the opportunity to enjoy participating in their chosen sport before dancing the night away to their music of choice.”

The Emirates Dubai 7s returns this December as the 2nd leg of the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series, which will see the best men and women in the world battle on Pitches 1 & 2.

A further 5000 participants will compete in one of the four sports before enjoying old favourites such as the Rugby Rocks stage and the Heineken Tavern, joined again by Balearic day bar, Beats on two and the international dance music stage Frequency on 8.

Thousands of fans and party-goers from around the world will join the participants as organisers expect over 100,000 people through the gates over the three days of the festival.

Burwell said of the 2022 Festival, “This will be our biggest yet. We have three international headline music acts joining James Haskell across the three stages, special guest appearances, world-class sport and much more; 7s is again returning to the desert as the only place to be on National Day Weekend.”
