Emirates Dubai 7s announces the opening of the Team registration portal for all invitational sports

  • Region’s largest sports and entertainment festival welcomes teams from across the world to participate in Invitational tournaments
  • International mega sports gathering includes Rugby Sevens, cricket, netball and WODON3 fitness competition

 

DUBAI, UAE 1 MARCH 2023: The Emirates Dubai 7s is the region’s most anticipated event of the year. Celebrated and loved because of its inclusivity, range of activities, entertainment and sports.

The festival will take place from Friday 1st December – Sunday 3rd December, 2023 and Invitational teams can now register to participate in tournaments across the weekend.

In addition to the thousands of spectators who were able to enjoy a range of activities at the festival, in 2022 we saw 5,500 athletes from 32 countries compete in 28 Emirates Dubai 7s invitational tournaments.

At the Emirates Dubai 7s, Rugby action isn’t limited to professional players. The truly inclusive event will also host International Invitational and Open Tournaments for Men & Women as well as Social, Vets for the over 35s and an Under 19 Boys competitions while the best teams from across the Gulf Region will battle it out for the Gulf Men’s League, Open, Social, Vets, Women, U19 Boys and Girls, and the UAE National Development Cup, created exclusively for Emirati players. These 16 additional events will be played across the three days at The Sevens Stadium.

On the cricket front, the Emirates Dubai 7s will be hosting teams to compete in the Open Competitive & Open Social, competitions accessible to women, men and youth as well as the Emirates Aviation Cup invitational tournaments.

Netball is one of the largest female participation sports with 20 million people playing in more than 80 countries, and a growing fan and participant base. The sport has been increasing in popularity in the UAE, both at school and in amateur league levels, with over 1,000 people here playing every week. The Emirates Dubai 7s has been supporting the development of the game and once again we will see teams compete in Open Women, Open Women Social, Youth, Mixed, Gulf Women and Gulf Youth Aspire invitational tournaments.

WODON3 is a functional fitness competition that caters to all athletic levels. It was born out of the increasing synergy between fitness and the existing sports, rugby 7s, netball and cricket. The competition had a successful inaugural year, with many noting its contribution to the excitement of the event. WODON3 is a platform for athletes to display teamwork, test their fitness, and experience the festival vibes from morning until dusk.

Though sports is at the heart of the festival, the music offering has continued to grow with more stages, including Rugby Rocks, Beats on Two and Frequency on 8 and world-renowned acts. The Emirates Dubai 7s team has confirmed that fans can expect to see a huge host of international acts across the weekend this year.

Alongside the tournament, team entry also includes a 3-day festival ticket so your whole team can experience the amazing entertainment, headline acts, activities and sports.

Once registered, Team Entries will be reviewed. For those approved and invited to enter, they can confirm their placeon a ‘First Come, First Served’ basis by making Full payment via credit card from Monday 1st May, 2023.
